So Percussion joins JACK Quartet at the 2015 SONiC Festival (American Composers Orchestra)

October 18, JACK Quartet presented "JACK Out of the Box": a six-hour marathon of New York and world premieres by 17 composers.

Over the course of the performance, JACK was joined by a slew of special guests, including So Percussion, Face the Music, vocalists Caroline Shaw and Rachel Calloway, Bang on a Can All-Star Ken Thomson and festival director, composer and clarinetist Derek Bermel.

This is the first of the marathon's three sets and includes music of Christopher Trani, Jeff Myers, Cenk Ergun, Tristan Perich and Jason Treuting.

Christopher Trapani: Visions and Revisions

Jeff Myers: Requiem Aeternam (feat. Rachel Calloway, mezzo soprano)

Cenk Ergun - Comfort Dream Queen Memory (feat. Jason Treuting, percussion)

Tristan Perich - Sequential (feat. So Percussion)

Jason Treuting - Oblique Music for 4 Plus (blank) (feat. So Percussion)

This performance was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jeremy Kinney.

The American Composers Orchestra’s inaugural SONiC Festival, presented in 2011, was hailed as "a brilliant and unpretentious showcase for music in the new millennium" (The Guardian). The second edition returned in 2015 with over 20 world premieres, and music from over 80 composers age 40 and under at venues across New York City. Q2 Music is the digital media partner of the SONiC Festival, and all concerts will be available for on-demand streaming at
