Saturday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 pm, Q2 Music and New Sounds Live present a live stream of the 2016 Bang on a Can People's Commissioning Fund at Merkin Concert Hall. The program includes world premieres of music by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline ShawZhang Shouwang of the Beijing band Carsick Cars, Gabriella Smith and René Lussier.

Presented as part of the 2016 Ecstatic Music Festival, the evening also includes Julia Wolfe's Reeling from the Bang on a Can All-Stars latest album “Field Recordings” and her “Breaker Boys” with Trinity Choir led by Julian Wachner from Wolfe's 2015 Pulitzer Prize-winning work Anthracite Fields.

Founded in 1997, the Bang on a Can People's Commissioning Fund has commissioned over 40 compositions from a varied array of established and emerging composers including Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, Anna Clyne, Dan Deacon and Dirty Projectors' David Longstreth. Q2 Music is the digital partner of the Kaufman Music Center's 2016 Ecstatic Music Festival.
