On Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 7 pm, Q2 Music streamed the second in a series of two live audio webcasts featuring the music of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw.

Presented in partnership with WNYC's New Sounds and host John Schaefer, this concert included the world premiere of a new instrumental arrangement of her interactive film/music piece, Ritornello, as well as chamber works for strings, as performed by the American Contemporary Music Ensemble.

Known formerly as an active, versatile violinist and vocalist in the New York new-music scene, Shaw skyrocketed to international attention as a composer this past April for being the youngest ever recipient of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in Music. She won at age 30 for her Partita for 8 Voices, written for the a cappella vocal octet Roomful of Teeth.

With only one commercially available CD to her name, Shaw's instrumental music remains little known to the larger public. Tonight's live webcast offers a chance to discover more from the multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist vocalist-composer.

This concert was engineered by Edward Haber (technical director and music mix) and George Wellington.
