Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 pm, Q2 Music and New Sounds Live present a live stream of composer-pianist Rachel Grimes of the band Rachels with the piano trio Longleash at Merkin Concert Hall as part of the 2016 Ecstatic Music Festival.

Best known for her work in the ambient post-rock group Rachel's, pianist-composer Rachel Grimes has also toured as a solo pianist and collaborated with the Portland Cello Project and the Amsterdam Sinfonietta trio. Longleash – a trio of violin, cello and piano – takes its name from Operation Long Leash, a declassified CIA operation intended to infiltrate Cold-War Europe with the American avante-garde artwork. The ensemble champions the commissioning and performance of new music.

The evening celebrates the 20th anniversary of Rachel's "Music for Egon Schiele" and will also include selections from Grimes's 2015 album "The Clearing" and the world premiere of her two-piano work And Today Was Her Birthday.

Q2 Music is the digital partner of the Kaufman Music Center's 2016 Ecstatic Music Festival.
