On June 7, 2012, the Ojai Music Festival opened with an evening featuring John Luther Adams's Red Arc/Blue Veil for piano and percussion and Charles Ives's Piano Sonata No. 2 "Concord." Pianist Marc-André Hamelin played Ives's imposing "Concord" sonata and joined forces with percussionist Steven Schick for Red Arc/Blue Veil.

The closing concert of the 2012 festival featured the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra performing John Adams's Shaker Loops under the baton of Reinbert de Leeuw.
