Roomful of Teeth (Bonica Ayala)

Sunday, March 12, the Grammy-winning vocal octet Roomful of Teeth joined composer Nick Zammuto, a founding member of Zammuto and indie-rock heroes The Books, as part of the Ecstatic Music Festival. The performance was presented in partnership with WNYC's New Sounds and hosted by John Schaefer.

Ecstatic Music festival curator Judd Greenstein writes of the collaboration:

Nick listens to the world and hears sounds that can be recontextualized in wondrous ways; Roomful of Teeth listens to and studies the human voice in all its capacity and invites composers to explore that breadth, completely. It’s an ideal match and I’m very excited to have both of these artists back on the festival.

The evening also featured the music of composers Toby Twining and Caroline Shaw.

Zammuto's ToBeGinAGain reminds me of Beach Boys harmonies. Great music that gives wings to the listener.
