Listen to Olivier Messiaen's Visions de l'amen, paired with settings of the poetry of Mallarmé by Pierre Boulez and Maurice Ravel, performed live by pianists Gloria Cheng and Vicki Ray, the International Contemporary Ensemble, percussion ensemble Red Fish Blue Fish and soprano Mellissa Hughes at the Ojai Music Festival on June 13, 2015.

Messiaen's monumental, seven-movement work for two pianos, Visions de l'amen, comes first on the early morning program. It's followed by Ravel's Trois poèmes de Stéphane Mallarmé interleaved with Boulez's two Improvisations sur Mallarmé. The sound of bird calls provided a gentle and fitting sonic background to the outdoor setting.

This on-demand music is part of a partnership between Q2 Music and the Ojai Music Festival to share live recordings from the festival dating back to the 2012 season.
