This week's program highlights the accomplishments of the young musicians who perform in the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Philharmonic Orchestra.

Led by conductor Jonathan Strasser, the teenagers of the orchestra meet every Saturday and are admitted by audition only. Every year there are several concerto competitions within the orchestra. Collecting a coveted performance prize this past February was 18-year-old flutist Reina Hoshino. A senior at East Brunswick High School, Hoshino began her precollege studies this past year. She is heard this week in the second and third movements of Reinecke's Flute Concerto in D Major.

Program playlist:
Mozart: Overture to The Abduction of Seraglio
Giuseppe Martucci: Nocturne
Carl Reinecke: Flute Concerto in D Major, second and third movements
Bizet: Symphony in C
— Manhattan School of Music Precollege Philharmonic; Jonathan Strasser, conductor
