This week’s showcase features baritone Benjamin Dickerson and pianist Alden Gatt, the most recent laureates of the Marilyn Horne Song Competition, in concert at The Jerome L. Greene Space this past March. Winners of this annual competition are selected for their excellence in performing art songs.

Dickerson and Gatt presented songs by Brahms, Poulenc, Rachmaninoff and Vaughan Williams. In addition to their performances, this program includes excerpts of WQXR’s Nimet Habachy's interview with legendary mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne. Isabel Leonard, another esteemed mezzo and former winner of the competition, made a guest appearance and sang an aria from Handel’s Alcina.

Young Artist Showcase airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm.
