Best gig ever? That's what eight violinists from the Pittsburgh area are calling their performance with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on Sept. 11 in the Steel City.

The octet joined in on Springsteen's "New York City Serenade." Given only a week to prepare, the classically trained players provided a "swaying hammock of violin music that emerged sweetly from the darkness," according to Brian O'Neill of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. My daughter and I saw Bruce at Giants Stadium in August. There aren't words to describe how wonderful the whole concert -- and especially this opening -- were. Thank you for letting me hear it again.
