Sometimes, an hour is simply not enough time for all the wonderful performances on the Young Artists Showcase. This week’s program features music that didn’t fit into past and upcoming programs.

Tune in to hear 17-year-old Wei Luo play Chopin during a Salon di Virtuosi award recital that will be the focus of our program in January, as well as some beautiful Borodin from last week’s iPalpiti Festival program. Violinist Samuel Nebyu and pianist Bethany Brooks—who will be the artists featured on next week’s program—play a Romance by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. The program will conclude with Elgar’s Enigma Variations played by the talented teenagers of the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Jonathan Strasser.

Program:

Chopin:  Nocturne in C# minor
--Wei Luo, piano

Borodin:  Nocturne from String Quartet #2
--iPalpiti Orchestral Ensemble

Coleridge-Taylor: Romance
--Samuel Nebyu, violin; Bethany Brooks, piano

Elgar:  Enigma Variations
--Manhattan School of Music Precollege Philharmonic Orchestra
