Saturday at 1 pm, join us for the Lyric Opera of Chicago's broadcast of La clemenza di Tito (“The Clemency of Titus”), Mozart's passionate, political opera set in ancient Rome. The opera is the story of Roman Emperor Titus (79-81 A.D.) know as Tito (sung by Matthew Polenzani), who was known for his military prowess and forgiveness.

The plot specifically focuses on Vitelia (soprano Amanda Majeski) and Sesto (mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato), who devised a plot to assassinate the Emperor. When the failed plot is discovered, Sesto is to be put to death according to Roman Law. But Tito is a forgiving man who is torn by his duty to the state and his friendship for Sesto. Andrew Davis conducts this performance.
