Saturday at 9 pm, be sure to listen to WQXR as we broadcast Yuri Temirkanov conducting the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra from the Royal Albert Hall in London. The Orchestra performs pieces by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Rimsky-Korsakov.

Francesca da Rimini, Tchaikovsky’s symphony about the doomed lovers from Dante’s Inferno, begins the performance. Then, the award-winning pianist Nikolai Lugansky will play Rachmaninoff's lushly melodic Piano Concerto No. 2. The three-part performance is topped off with Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, named after the female protagonist in the epic Thousand and One Nights.

Just an idea of the character of the composers for the brilliant work !!
It's a one of a lifetime experience ..
