I was only half listening to the Charles Ives piece that you played last night, but I think the fragment that you later described as Stephen Foster's "Old Black Joe" was actually a fragment of "Jesus Loves Me", a well-known children's hymn. Since the Ives' piece was about children at a camp meeting, it makes more sense that he would have incorporated "Jesus Loves Me", rather than "Old Black Joe". What do you think?
