In conjunction with Black History Month, Classics for Kids features the work of African-African composer Scott Joplin. This week's program explores the history of ragtime music for which Joplin was best known, earning the title "The King of Ragtime Writers." We'll hear some of Joplin's most famous works, including the Maple Leaf Rag, as well as pieces by American composers Tom Turpin, Joseph Lamb, James Scott and others.
