Listen to the broadcast of Simone Dinnerstein and Ensemble LPR from the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park, recorded June 30.

Ensemble LPR is the resident orchestra at the Greenwich Village venue Le Poisson Rouge. Joining the ensemble for this, the second concert at the bandshell, is the Brooklyn-based pianist Simone Dinnerstein. Best known for her 2007 self-financed recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, she performed the cycle in The Greene Space in 2013:

Tonight, Dinnerstein joins the orchestra in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 K. 488.  Also on the program are works by John Adams, David Handler (the co-founder of Le Poisson Rouge) and Schoenberg (his lush Verklarte Nacht or Transfigured Night). Elliott Forrest hosts the broadcast.
