Deborah Voigt Sneaks a Kiss on Pianist Brian Zegers Cheek

This Saturday at 12:30 pm soprano and host Deborah Voigt and talks with the pianist Brian Zeger about the opera singer as recitalist. It's one of the most challenging roles an opera singer can ever undertake — and it's not for every singer.

Some opera singers need the lights, costumes, and sets to perform, whereas the recital stage is "a very naked format,” according to Zeger, who runs Juilliard's Vocal Arts program as well as the also the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artists Program. Zeger talks about how he breathes with his singers and dispenses sage advice for any recitalist from James Levine.

We also hear a comparison of two revered lieder singers – Dietrich Fischer-Diskau and Matthias Goerne and Zeger and Voigt recall recitals they'll never forget.
