The Spanish Spirit

This week, host David Dubal explores the Spanish spirit with pianists sharing a deep love for the Iberian Peninsula. The program features some of the high points of Spanish pianism: Enrique Granados playing his own "Danza Lenta," Joaquin Rodrigo’s "In the Shade of the Tower Bermeja," and Isaac Albéniz’s "Malaguena."

The soul of Spanish music also inspired the likes of Arthur Rubinstein. This episode highlights two Rubinstein performances, including Albéniz’s "Navarra" and Manuel de Falla's "Ritual Fire Dance," both staples in Rubinstein's repertoire.

What was the piano piece that was played at the end of Reflections from the Keyboard and Pipedreams.? It was very beautiful. We didn't hear all of it.

I have recently tuned in for David Dubal's program twice and Live From Carnegie Hall seems to be broadcasting in its place. Not a bad thing at all but I listen to Reflections From The Keyboard every Thursday evening and do miss it.
Thank you for all of the wonderful programming on WQXR!
