Anna Netrebko appears in a new Austrian Airlines television commercial, signing autographs in a plane's first-class cabin.

The ad shows the Russian soprano roaming the aisle in her stocking feet, sleep mask propped up on her forehead, when she catches the eye of an adoring fan. He is unable to approach the glamorous singer but a flight attendant notices his interest and brokers a meeting. Steaming cappuccinos arrive as the two chat away the flight.

The spot is part of a new campaign involving Austrian celebrities (Netrebko has a home in Vienna and became an Austrian citizen in 2006); the Olympic downhill skier Matthias Mayer is featured in another commercial. The airline says the ads are designed to portray charming stories involving passengers.

The Austrian Airlines campaign follows an Air Malta advertisement that debuted in September featuring the Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja belting out "O Sole Mio" on a crowded plane. Also last year, United Airlines unveiled a commercial featuring an on-board orchestra playing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

Making TV commercials is a good way to ingratiate both the celebrity and the one paying for the AD with a wide audience at home or in the office or wherever when they are attentive and free of obligatory attention to convention when one is in a public area. A NNA NETREBKO make your many fans happy to see you happy.
Our best wishes to ANNA NETREBKO. You are still gorgeous and your singing is tops. But as every man who was not picked as your future husband will agree, you deserve the very best spouse. Women, as men, make decisions as to their mates that many friends feel are not up ton what their friends and relatives assume their friend/relative deserves. We all see with different lenses and different backgrounds and different business and social considerations. The old "casting couch" ascribed to Hollywood casting for female femme fatales is still one of the talked about by those casting about for reasons certain people are contracted. Every major decision one makes ultimately leads to results not always desired but inevitable. SO, be careful what you wish for
