On Thursday, April 24 at 7 pm ET, join Q2 Music, host Terrance McKnight and guests composer-pianist Vijay Iyer and the Brentano String Quartet for an evening of conversation and music for piano, string and electronics from The Greene Space at WQXR. 

Winner of the 2013 MacArthur “Genius Grant” and multiple winner in the 2012 Downbeat Critics Poll (for Artist, Album, Group and Pianist of the Year, plus "Rising Star Composer"), Iyer comes to The Greene Space to perform a program that bridges stylistic boundaries of jazz, classical and electronic music.

The concert features selections from “Mutations” – Iyer's newest album just released on ECM – which is scored for piano, strings and electronics. The world-renowned Brentano String Quartet joins Iyer for this work, as well as selections from Time, Place, Action, a new piano quintet Iyer wrote for the Brentano which had its New York premiere recently at the 92nd St. Y. The evening also includes several solo piano works.

Vijay Iyer and Brentano String Quartet in The Greene Space at WQXR is the culmination of Q2 Music's 24-hour Sample Rate marathon on April 24, featuring electronic and electroacoustic music hosted by a cavalcade of dynamic, leading voices.
