Eighth Blackbird in Flight at Miller Theatre

This second performance of the SONiC Festival, titled Fractured Jams, featured the Chicago-based ensemble eighth blackbird performing works by Dan Visconti, Timothy Andres, Bruno Mantovani, Amy Beth Kirsten, Caleb Burhans and Fabien Svensson. In addition to being one of three NYC premieres, Bruno Mantovani’s Chamber Concert No. 2 was an eighth blackbird commission.

In this September 22 performance at (Le) Poisson Rouge, Bleckmann presents his latest project, Hello Earth! - the music of Kate Bush, joined by John Hollenbeck (percussion), Skuli Sverrisson (bass), Henry Hey (keys, vocals) and Caleb Burhans (violin, guitar, vocals).

ICE and JACK Quartet

In this June 29 performance, the long-standing and famously accomplished International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) joins forces with the explosive and progressive JACK Quartet as a send-off to their performances at the the International Summer Course for New Music in Darmstadt, Germany. The two new music giants perform works by Earl Brown, Caleb Burhans, Jason Eckhardt and Yoshiaki Onishi.

Q2 brings you the opening night concert of New York's 2010 Look and Listen Festival, recorded live May 7 at the Chelsea Art Museum. With WNYC's John Schaefer as host, the concert features music by Q2 composer portraits Missy Mazzoli and Caleb Burhans, as well as Carlos Sánchez-Gutiérrez, Hannah Lash and the revered John Corigliano. The impressive roster of performers includes eighth blackbird, the JACK Quartet, and pianist Jade Simmons.
