This week's featured guest is The Chiara Quartet's Rebecca Fischer and Jonah Sirota. Duality drives a lot of today’s composers. On the one hand, they continue the threads started by the likes of Monteverdi, Handel, Beethoven and Ravel. On the other, they’re also working with a preponderance of musical genres that, had they existed in the 17th, 18th or 19th Centuries, would surely have been drawn on as well by their predecessors.

When I was old enough and accomplished enough to participate in performing string quartets, well, that's when casual flirtation morphed into full-on obsession.

The Chiara Quartet proves that they know what chamber music is all about by respecting its roots. As a part of their own back-to-basics series, Chamber Music in any Chamber, the Chiaras performed at (Le) Poisson Rouge, bolstering a program that bypasses concert hall for clubs and galleries, returning chamber music to its rightful birthplace in intimate settings.
