Missy Mazzoli has a distinct, poignant compositional point-of-view -- a voice which rings clearly throughout her work, be it music written for orchestra, her chamber-pop band Victoire or operatic voices.

Cued Up brings you the final installment of the 10th annual Look & Listen Festival this Sunday, at 2 p.m.. You'll hear a world premiere by composer and percussionist David Cossin, Missy Mazzoli's group Victoire, So Percussion performing music by its longtime member Jason Treuting, and some refreshing works by Brasil Guitar Duo.

Inspired by the Salem witch trials, Cued Up concocts a witch's brew of spellbinding string quartets, crystalline electronics, mischievous female vocals, and other works that sound like the musical equivalent to fortune-telling.

This week, The New Canon gets a shot to the arm courtesy of the JACK Quartet's John Richards and Ari Streisfeld plus composer and Victoire bandleader Missy Mazzoli. The three talk about what happens when sight and sound collide.

One of the conspicuously binding forces between the music of concert halls and dance halls in the past fifty years has been the use of electronically generated sounds. On Sunday, August 29 at 2 p.m., Cued Up on Q2 presents Missy Mazzoli's instrumental chamber-pop quintet, Victoire.  The all-female troupe, comprised of violin, clarinet, keyboards, electronics and double bass, relishes in the intersecting of romantic harmonies and minimalist post-rock odysseys. Never webcast before, the concert was presented by American Composers Orchestra at (Le) Poisson Rouge, where the performance took place on April 7, 2010.

Q2 brings you the opening night concert of New York's 2010 Look and Listen Festival, recorded live May 7 at the Chelsea Art Museum. With WNYC's John Schaefer as host, the concert features music by Q2 composer portraits Missy Mazzoli and Caleb Burhans, as well as Carlos Sánchez-Gutiérrez, Hannah Lash and the revered John Corigliano. The impressive roster of performers includes eighth blackbird, the JACK Quartet, and pianist Jade Simmons.
