I attended the concert at Cunningham Park in Queens. The NY Philharmonic's playing was relaxed and the orchestra adopted languid tempi. For me the orchestra wasn't as sharp as say the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood or Chicago Symphony at Ravinia, but it is a free concert. Unluckily there was no fireworks show because of a renovation to the grounds. As for the weather it was the most pleasant out of a very humid week.

I attended both concerts in Central Park, Tues. and Wed. nights, and enjoyed them very much, especially Wed. when they played Prokofiev's "Dance of the Knights." These are my firework pictures that followed!

Central Park, the crowds, the skyline and the marvelous music made the evening of 7/13 fantastic!

This was Tuesday night (7/13) at the Central Park concert with the Shanghai Symphony and Lang Lang. In this photo the Shanghai Symphony is just getting ready to start their program. They changed the schedule and had the guest orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony play first, before the N.Y. Philharmonic, because they thought it might rain.

This was from the Central Park concert on Tuesday night with the Shanghai Symphony and Lang Lang. This was one of the two vocal soloists, whose name I don't know, but maybe you do. Wonderful voice. Lang Lang played the Rhapsody in Blue with great flair.

We have attended NYP concerts in Central Park for as many years as they have been held....and have a collection of the concert T-shirts. Note my polo shirt which is from another WQXR era...bought during a WQXR/NYP radiothon in the '80's. WQXR and the NYP are two of our very favorite things!
