Douglas Berry, thanks for your comments. Your wife's show sounds like something I would have enjoyed hearing!
Dear David Garland - just wanted to tell you how much i am enjoying your New Show "Old School" - tho i have long been a fan of yours - always enjoyed "Spinning on Air" on WNYC also - but your Old School is also a reminder of a show my wife, Jane Berry, did back in the 80's on Minneapolis Community Radio KFAI - She began back in '79 and developed the show until her death in '87 - stared out as "Our Minstrels, Medievel to Modern" and was an exploration of the Minstrel tradition from ancient times to today - often she would open a show with Music by Thibaud de Navarre or Guilluame de Michaud and end up with Bob Dylan or Patti Smith - eventually she changed the title of the show to "Centuries' Song" - less scholarly sounding - anyway you have a similar idea - especially when you were talking about the more intimate vocal styles of todays singers and the similarity (perhaps) to the ancient tradition - anyway - keep it up - also enjoy "Movies on the Radio" - Sincrly D. Berry
