Friday, November 13, 2009

The Jewish Museum is honoring photographer Cindy Sherman, as part of a series of events tied to its exhibition on Man Ray.

According to ArtDaily, Sherman will receive the museum's Man Ray award for her work exploring identity - a concept Man Ray also examined extensively in his own work. Sherman is widely recognized for her many series of self-portraits. She will be honored at a ceremony at the museum on November 17th.

The Jewish Museum's retrospective on Man Ray, Alias Man Ray: The Art of Reinvention, opens November 15th and runs until March 14th.
