Bomb in Pakistan Strikes Soldiers, Schoolgirls

A roadside bombing killed three U.S. soldiers and injured dozens of schoolgirls in northwest Pakistan today.

The Associated Press reports that the bomb hit a convoy close to Koto Girls High School in the Lower Dir district near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Besides the soldiers, an esitmated four more were killed and at least 70 were wounded.

Koto High was celebrating its opening day when the bomb exploded. Now, much of the school has been flattened.

"What was the fault of these innocent students?"  Mohammed Dawood, a resident who helped police dig the injured from the rubble, asked The AP.
