Pakistan Bomb Blast Kills Dozens

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Around 30 people were killed in a bomb blast outside a mosque near the Afghan-Pakistan border today.

The Associated Press reports that the attack took place in the Khyber province, and tore through a mosque in the Aka Khel area of Khyber. At least 50 others were wounded.

The bomb blast is not the only thing that has Pakistan in the news today.

U.S. special envoy Richard Holbrooke is meeting with Pakistan's prime minister in the country's capitol today, Islamabad. Several days ago, Pakistani authorities also announced that they had detained the Afghan Taliban's second-in-command in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city. The U.S. continues a series of missile strikes against suspected militants in South Waziristan.
