Tuesday, March 16, 2010

An early morning earthquake shook Southern California today.

The epicenter of the magnitude-4.4 quake was about 10 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. It struck just after 4 A.M., according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The Associated Press reports that there were no known injuries or serious damage from the quake. "I'm sure people would have felt it, but this is not an earthquake that will be damaging," said USGS geophysicist Amy Vaughan.
