Saturday Morning Cartoons: Merry Christmas Charlie Brown

Saturday, December 24, 2011

Because, really, is Christmas truly complete unless you’ve watched for the billionth time A Charlie Brown Christmas? We think not.

For this Saturday’s cartoon, we’ve selected the iconic opening scene from the beloved Charles M. Schulz holiday television show. While this scene features Vince Guaraldi’s equally iconic tune, “Christmas Time is Here,” on air we’ll be playing a version by Imani Winds.

There are traditional rituals we perform that give us comfort...that allow a space for us to remember or cry without being criticized or laughed at.
"A Charlie Brown's Christmas" is one of these for me...so is "A Wonderful Life".
Listening to Mario Lanza sing "O Holy Night" and "Guardian Angels" is also part of the whole package.
For various people in different cultures it's different things.

Gratitude is the base of it all, in my case. Grateful for my family, my home, my little tree this year.

Believe me, Christ is the initiator of all this gratitude and fun and thoughtfulness...without Jesus ...the rest of all these material or simple gifts would fade from thought.
