Saturday Morning Cartoons: Ducking a Hungry Caveman

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Spring is just around the corner, or at least it felt that way this past week in New York, so it seemed natural to celebrate the changing of the seasons with Felix Mendelssohn’s Fruhlingslied (Spring Song) from Songs without Words, Op. 62.

This piece is featured in the 1939 Warner Brothers cartoon, Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur, in which a caveman named Casper, doing his best Jack Benny impression (but actually voiced by Jack Lescoulie), and his dinosaur Fido try to find breakfast, only to be foiled by Daffy Duck.
