Opera for the Masses?

What do Rolando Villazón, Andrea Bocelli and Katherine Jenkins have in common?

They'll all be tasked, for the forseeable future, with turning eight pop stars into adroit opera stars on a new reality British TV show called Pop Star To Opera Star.

The pupils of Villazón, Bocelli and Jenkins include singer and actress Kym Marsh, known for her role on the British TV show Coronation Street; singer Danny Jones of the British pop band McFly; and pop singer Jimmy Osmond.

Myleene Klass and Alan Titchmarsh host the show, which is planned to go on air on the British television network ITV in mid-January.
