Saturday Morning Cartoons: Thrills and Chills on Bald Mountain

A scene from Disney's 'Fantasia.' A scene from Disney's 'Fantasia.' (Youtube)

Halloween is this coming Wednesday and in that spirit, we have chosen Modest Mussorgsky’s thrilling A Night on Bald Mountain for this Saturday’s cartoon. This work is famously featured in Walt Disney’s 1940 animated classic "Fantasia."

We also hear another familiar piece, Schubert’s Ave Maria, in the second half of the cartoon.

When I was a child in the 50's and 60's there was a cartoon that featured symphonic orchestra music.... one of the pieces was The Flight of the Bumblebee I believe... there were no words, just music. I recall a doe and a fawn... I can't recall any specific characters that were well known like Bugs Bunny.... perhaps it had The Rite of Spring... not sure... but it was beautiful and well done animation, black and white, and had wonderful music. Would you happen to know what it could have been? A Fleischer? Disney? Any help would be appreciated... I would love to see it again. Thank you!
