Saturday Morning Cartoons: 'What's Opera, Doc?'

Saturday, December 15, 2012

This Saturday’s cartoon features Richard Wagner’s Overture to The Flying Dutchman. This music opens the 1957 Chuck Jones/Warner Brothers cartoon, “What’s Opera, Doc?” starring Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd.

Although the cartoon is probably best known for Elmer Fudd singing “Kill the Wabbit” to the tune of “Ride of the Valkyries,” from Die Walkure, the cartoon opens with The Flying Dutchman overture.
