Pianist Jonathan Biss has been recognized for his connection to the music of Robert Schumann, whose piano Quartet he performs with members of the Elias String Quartet in this program at Zankel Hall.

The concert also includes Mozart’s Piano Quartet in E flat; Janacek’s String Quartet No. 2, “Intimate Letters”; and the New York premiere of a Piano Quintet by the young Brooklyn-based composer Timothy Andres.

Biss has been touring with the works of Schumann and last year he wrote a lengthy essay on the composer that he published as a Kindle Single.

Below is the archive of our live chat and Twitter conversation.

I have lived in AZ for 19 years, originally from NY, and still listen to WQXR at every opportunity! I don't miss much about "back east" EXCEPT for
WQXR. Sirius/XM has eased the pain a little, but when I hear such beautiful chamber music I start to think............. Thank you WQXR!

WQXR this is ever so fabulous! Thank you. I know chamber music might not be everyone's cup o' tea, however, I
love it precisely because it is transparent how the members of the quartet play through listening behaviors ever so soft in our culture of noise and egospeak where listening is a lost art.
