Video Webcast: Gil and Orli Shaham Play Jewish Music in The Greene Space

Monday, April 15, 2013

On Monday, April 15 at 7 pm, watch a live webcast of the violinist Gil Shaham and his sister, the pianist Orli Shaham, performing an evening of Jewish and Jewish-themed music for violin and piano.

The sold-out performance from The Greene Space features music by Ernst Bloch; John Williams (his “Remembrances” from "Schindler's List") and Avner Dorman. The latter composer will be featured with Niggun, a work composed for the Shahams and based on the Hebrew word meaning soulful melody; the piece often has repetitive and improvisatory elements. WQXR's Elliott Forrest hosts.

April- I had to wait for the photo to pass by on the site, click on it, and scroll down. I may have clicked again on the live now. Not sure. Try that. Nothing more frustrating than to know this moving, lovely, informative concert is going on w/o you! Good luck.

And thanks, Elliot and qxr for the broadcast.

Gil Shaham is one of my favorite virtuoso violinists. I have heard him play with his sister Orli at NJPAC and it was a delightful experience. Unfortunately can not make the Greene Space event in person but will be watching the webcast. I am sure they will again put on a spectacular performance.
