Saturday Morning Cartoons: An Animated Operavore

Saturday, May 04, 2013

The late Emanuele Luzzati was a painter, animator, Academy Award nominee and an Operavore. For today’s cartoon, we look at his 1973 Academy Award-nominated animated short film "Pulcinella."

Named after a stock 17th century commedia dell'arte character, for "Pulcinella" Luzzati borrows the overture from Gioachino Rossini’s opera Il turco in Italia (The Turk in Italy).
