Saturday Morning Cartoons: Madama Butterfly

Saturday, July 13, 2013

Today's Saturday at the Opera is Puccini's Madama Butterfly from the LA Opera, and this week's Saturday’s cartoon features Butterfly's famous aria “Un bel di."

This aria appears in a segment from L’Opera Imaginaire, a beautiful 1993 collection of animated shorts based on opera arias. One word of warning for any parents with small children watching, though, this animated piece ends in much the same way as the opera.
