On Saturday, Aug. 3 at 5 pm, WQXR broadcasts the third in a series of performances from the BBC Proms festival in London.

Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra of the Academy of Santa Cecilia, Rome, begin the concert with the ceremonial fizz and pomp of Mozart’s "Haffner" Symphony and end in the burnished melancholy and high drama of Rachmaninov’s Symphony No 2.

In between the two, 18-year-old Canadian-Polish pianist Jan Lisiecki makes his Proms debut in Schumann’s Piano Concerto.

Program details:

Mozart: Symphony No. 35 in D major, K385, 'Haffner'

Schumann: Concerto for Piano in A minor

Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 2 in E minor

Hosted by:

Clemency Burton-Hill
