Poll: Cast Your Vote For Mozart or Salieri

Mozart vs. Salieri. Mozart vs. Salieri. (Wikimedia Commons)

In this turbulent election season, WQXR is your respite from the non-stop political coverage. And during our fall membership drive, you can cast your vote for the peace and calm of classical music by supporting WQXR with a donation.

Still, it's fun to think about how one of classical music's most notorious rivalries would have played out at the polls. Take a listen to this potentially explosive Salieri attack ad.

Who would you vote for, Mozart or Salieri?

This "ad" is the best one of the election season - a much needed laugh, for which I am very grateful. Thank you, WQXR!

I have been a huge fan of radio all my life, starting in the late 40's and early 50's, listening with my Grandfather. Your "ad" for " Minor composers" has got to be one of the funniest things I have ever heard..." I am Antonio Salieri, and I approved this message..." Too much!!!

I do enjoy Jeff's 3 minute synopsis but this whole who was better Salieri or Mozart is stupid.
I too am an original founding contributing member. Wish I could contribute more.
I am saddened that there is now only one classical music station available.

These "political' ads by QXR are so great, they should be expanded and
put into a CD, which I would gladly buy, and even add to my patron contribution. Perhaps they could even be combined with a CD produced from
Spurgeon's famous "3 minute opera synopses", which should also be expanded to all the operas broadcast on QXR.
P.S. I am so proud to be one of the original founding sustaining members of QXR- the programming is now even better than when it was owned by a profit making entity!

This quiz is b.s. Salieri was a better composer than we give him credit for. Of course, the film Amadeus did not help his reputation.
QXR broadcasts Salieri's music and I enjoy it very much.
