In celebration of National Dog Day, which is observed every Aug. 26, we asked WQXR listeners to send in photos of their pups enjoying classical music. Here are 10 of our favorites. You can see more listener submissions on our Facebook page and via Twitter.

Tune into WQXR on Friday to hear music by dog-loving composers.

Fergus studying music theory by listening to WQXR.

Arabella finds tranquility in a good Bach.

Nana and Wendy listening to Puccini, of course.

Hugo hearts Annie Bergen.

Winnie the Winston English Bull Terrier lying in my banjo case listening to the radio.

Dachshunds Helga, Willy, Hans, Heinrich and Sophie contemplate eating Bach’s Chamber Music or chewing the Blockflute.

Every morning I turn on WQXR in the bathroom. When my dog Beau Beau hears the music he leaves his bed and comes into the bathroom, lies dow on the mat and enjoys the music with me.

Soda loves Bach and baseball.

Here's Mickey. A well at it being National Dog Day, it's also his birthday on Friday!

Happy National Dog Day!

@Pastor: yes, animals do have souls, feelings, etc. There is a foto on the Italian news site, Corriere della Sera, showing a dog, lying besides his master's coffin at the site of the earthquake victims. And who can ever forget, the dog in Japan, who would go to the railroad station every day to wait for his master who had died. I know of cats who stopped eating when their master died. All creatures, great and small.

These photos are PRICELESS!!! I ALWAYS LEAVE MY WAVE RADIO ON FOR MY CATS, WHEN I HAD DOGS DID THE SAME FOR THEM!!! They liked all genres of music!!

And far too many people have the gall to claim that animals have no feelings, no spirit, no soul. Here in these few photos with the associated captions we have proof otherwise. And think about the commercials that show musicians playing classical music to a field of cows, who come immediately to the fence to listen attentively!

Priceless! I asked my cat to dress up like a dog, but she would have none of it.

Just curious -- are any of them listening to "Music for Cats"?

(This is serious music for cats, not some fluff stuff.)

Thanks. We do not deserve dogs. We deserve cats, selfish, manipulative little bastards who reward us with their beauty and grace.
When my dog Daisy died, she broke my heart.
