Every Tuesday night, we're re-broadcasting a concert from the 2014-15 season of Carnegie Hall Live. Tonight at 9 pm, Jordi Savall and Le Concert des Nations perform an evening of French Baroque works at Zankel Hall. (Due to artists rights' issues, the archived audio is no longer available.)

As part of Carnegie Hall's Before Bach festival of early music, Savall directs the Spanish period-instrument ensemble through significant French Baroque works from the 17th and 18th centuries. The program features a range of works from French Baroque greats, from 17th century figures like  Sainte Colombe and Marin Marais, to 18th century giants François Couperin and Jean-Marie Leclair.

Savall, a composer, conductor, and viola da gamba virtuoso, founded Le Concert des Nations in 1989, and has since then worked with the orchestra to bring a range of period instruments to the stage. Named for François Couperin's work Les Nations, the ensemble features musicians from mainly Latin countries who specialize in the Baroque-centered repertoire.
