Don't Miss: Mahler's Symphony No. 4
The Berkshire Mountains region is home to several of the country's oldest summer music festivals. Along with Tanglewood and Music Mountain, there's the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, which houses the Yale Summer School of Music and presents concerts on a lush 70-acre estate. Its main hall, the 900-seat Music Shed, was inaugurated in 1906. While much of the programming is centered on small chamber pieces, this concert features something more substantial: Mahler's Fourth Symphony. Ransom Wilson conducts and Jihee Kim sings the soprano part. Also on the bill is Schumann's Adagio & Allegro for horn and piano, performed by William Purvis and André-Michel Schub, and Brahms' Clarinet Sonata, played by clarinetist David Shifrin.
